| || Tennis Australia operates a high performance pathway for young talented Australian athletes. Comprehensive training programs are designed to assist the athlete reach their full potential. As part of this program, selected athletes participate in national or international tours – this is where you come in!|
We are currently on the lookout for our next team of Junior Athlete Chaperones (females) to join our performance team while on tour. Males need not apply (as we’ve got an abundance of male chaperones), but ladies this one is for you!
This opportunity is unique, as you’ll only be engaged during the tour. Our aim is to create a list of females who are passionate about the health and wellbeing of others and don’t mind being called on as the time arises. We don’t expect you to be available for every tournament, but we do need to call out that this engagement will be ad hoc and at time last minute. Our Junior Athlete Chaperone will need a super flexible job, with a great manager who would be willing to let them go for weeks on end (approx.. 2-6 weeks, dependant on the tour) with not much notice.
Your main focus as the Junior Athletes Chaperone is the duty of care of the athletes while on tour, ensuring care is upheld, risks are minimised, and the athlete’s best interests are taken care of. Your job will be to maintain athlete discipline to aid their performance. Your ability to build rapport with the athletes is key! You also can’t be shy in communicating instructions (clearly), setting curfews and expectations for schedules (like their training and mealtimes), dealing with behavioural issues, and acting as a role model.
