|Medical Director, Early Stage Neurology Clinical Development|
|The position of Medical Director, Clinical Development sits on the Early Stage Neurology Clinical Development team within the Development Sciences Organization. The new Medical Director will support one or more early stage development programs. Activities include supporting the strategic design, execution, and interpretation of key clinical studies supporting high-priority Corporate initiatives. The individual who assumes this high-visibility position will interact with multiple levels of management within Biogen Idec as well with regulatory authorities.|
The Medical Director has the following responsibilities:
â€¢ Provide strategic leadership for programs that integrate the individualâ€™s extensive knowledge in the disease area, knowledge from the medical community around the world and the commercial, research, regulatory, and medical research goals in the disease area.
â€¢ Develop approaches to demonstrate early biologic activity through the use of proximal and distal biomarkers.
â€¢ Integrate the scientific rationale, regulatory requirements, product development plan, and commercial goals to build a solid strategic framework for the Clinical Development Plan (CDP).
â€¢ Establish appropriately aggressive clinical development timelines, incorporating key decision points and Go/No Go criteria for each CDP.
â€¢ Develop and maintain relationships with program counterparts in Commercial, Research, Regulatory, Clinical Operations and Statistics.
â€¢ Contribute to the development of strategic initiatives, specific Business Development activities and various organizational initiatives in Clinical Development
|Biogen Idec is excited to add depth to their Medical Research team. The ideal candidate will have the following mix of professional and personal characteristics:|
â€¢ Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in clinical or laboratory research.
â€¢ Industry experience, particularly in development within the disease area, is desirable
â€¢ Needs someone to understand and be able to put together and present analyses of data.
â€¢ Strong organizational skills; both written and verbal.
â€¢ Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and excellent organizational skills.
â€¢ Ability to represent the department on project teams, committees and external meetings.
â€¢ Effective cross functionally with an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting and employ a team approach to decision making.
â€¢ Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to direct global life cycle management.
â€¢ Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
